Right well, here we are on the blog. I just wanted to create a post about a bang bang pasta dish I made earlier today as my friend suggested I create a blog to do with food and I thought, not a bad idea and I already have a blog & bloody love food. I like to think this dish is easy to make and doesn’t cost much at all. I find I get my confidence with cooking because I just think to myself, if I pick ingredients I know i like and chuck them together, how wrong can it go?
You will need:
Cheddar cheese, the more mature the better, or mozzarella that could be good too…mmmm.
Salt & Pepper.
Some form of chili, I prefer chili flakes.
Mushrooms, or any other veg you like.
Bacon, or any other meat you like cut up small, OR no meat at all cos you know everyone’s vegan these days.
Some kind of tomato & mascarpone sauce/pesto/whatever sauce you like really.
How to do it:
Step 1. Get pasta on to boil, I do around 8-10 minutes as I like mine slightly al dente (ever so slightly not fully cooked), also I don’t know why but I always break the spaghetti in half.
I just find it easier to manage, a splash of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt in the water too, timer on, stirring occasionally. REMEMBER: The water can just be barely boiling, as long as pasta is in hot water pretty much it will cook.
Step 2. Get the oil medium hot in a frying pan, nice lowish heat, don’t want any shit burning.
Step 3. Add the ingredients that will take the longest to cook, in this case, bacon, fry off to your preferred level of crispiness, season with condiments as you go
TIP: Whenever I cook, when I add new ingredients or move on generally I season as I go, take it easy on the salt tho, that stuffs lethal.
Step 4. Add mushroom, brown them, or just keep cooking so they don’t look raw anymore.
Step 5: Add your chosen sauce to the mix, don’t forget that seasoning.
Step 6: By this point, your pasta is probably done, so strain that and put to one side, don’t worry about it getting slightly cold.
Step 7: Add cheese to your sauce business, this will basically give any crap sauce/already banging sauce a little kick up the arse in a good way flavor wise… I see you, add that seasoning again.
Tip: Taste as you go ALWAYS, especially when you’re experimenting or trying a dish for the first time.
Step 8: Add spinach, spinach takes seconds to cook so make sure you’re happy with everything else flavor wise first because we are basically done.
Step 9: Grab that pasta, add it to the sauce mix in the pan, mix all of that tasty goodness together, SEASON AGAIN.
Step 10: Serve up on a plate, season again, add some more cheese of choice, take a cute pic and put it on Instagram and voila, you have bang bang pasta.
